A day in the Park

After months of feeling sorry for myself and nearly tearing my family apart in the process I woke up to find out that there is nothing more important then family.

I read the book of Job. Very revealing. Job wound up being a pawn in a battle between Satan and God. Gos saw Job as the archtyple man...( Righteous and upright.) Satan saw Job as the perfefct example that even the best human can be turned against God if you make him suffer enough.

God told Satan "Have at him. Just don't take his life."

So Satan set his sights on Job, taking his crops, his family and his health. But did Job fail? No.

Job saw this as a test he could not pass because he saw himself as not strong enough to keep going. But pass he did.

"Do we praise God in the good times? Then why not praise him in the bad?"

It took the bible to wake me up...and a wife that made me see what I was missing.

I have been an insufferable ass lately. I apologize to everyone. It is all good. All will be fine.

Just trust in God. And a day with your kids squishing muck between your toes...

Ms. Sherrod, please foregive us...

Dear Ms. Sherrod,

Please forgive us. You have been wronged. As all right thinking Americans should believe, you did not deserve a summary termination because of hearsay and knee-jerk reactions due to political correctness.

You openly admitted to blatant racial bias in your dealings with a white farmer and gave a speech about the event for an impressive example of a "teachable moment." Because this administration is so incompetent and short sighted you were let go in a moment of political fear. Sorry.

But please do not cry to many crocodile tears. You have become the lefts media darling because of it. MSNBC this morning dedicated an ENTIRE HOUR to you and your "cruel and fear based treatment at the cause of the right-wing blogosphere." An entire hour. 8 American soldiers died yesterday. You remember the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan right? MSNBC obviously does not. Ms. Sherrod, do you know that the administration signed into law 2 days ago that forces ALL people and businesses to report on a 1099 ANY PURCHASE over $600? Why? To discourage the purchase of gold. M'am, did you know that 140,000 census workers were put out to pasture? MSNBC did not care I guess.

No M'am. There is no way around it. You were not given due process. That is a process where you are given a fair hearing before action/ punishment is taken. But can we discuss how you are now going to get MILLIONS in speaking engagements? How you are going to be promoted? How you will be invited to uber left dinner parties all around the nation? Can we talk about how the people in attendance at your speech CHEERED when you said you screwed the white farmer? And what about your smirk at the audiences reaction?

Let's talk about the PICKFORD FARMS settlement where in 1995 the USDA distributed $2 BILLION dollars to black farmers and "those who hoped to be black farmers" because of perceived injustices and you were the recipient of the SINGLE LARGEST SETTLEMENT in that distribution and you were HIRED TO THE USDA because of it? Let's talk about NEW COMMUNITIES INC., a community organizer group that NEVER RAN a profit and received $14 million from the government and you just happened to run?

Can we talk Ms. Sherrod about your theory that the "monied elites" invented racism to keep the blacks "down?"

http://www.breitbart.tv/sherrod-racism-invented-by-elites-to-keep-the-poor-down/

M'am, can we talk about your lamenting the fact that land was sold to a white man?

http://www.breitbart.tv/congressman-sherrods-initial-hiring-should-be-investigated/

Ms. Sherrod...you are going to become rich and famous and firmly ensconced in the same Washington elite that is currently kissing your big, fat racist butt. But can we discuss the fact that the video shown was intended to show the NAACP audience cheering the fact that you screwed over a white farmer? Sorry that you got caught up in the net. That is never good and I do feel sorry for the fact that you were given the same treatment that EVERY conservative elite is given when they say something controversial. Remember Rush Limbaugh being screwed out of 1% ownership of the RAMS because of LIBERAL MADE UP QUOTES? When it was admitted that the quotes were lies they did admit that they should have researched facts but, did MSNBC commit and HOUR to the the falsehoods? When the media reported that Sara Palin said "I can see Russia from my house" as a fact when it was in truth a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE skit did they rush to correct the fact?

No M'am. You were treated poorly. But remember that forgiveness for ONE injustice does not absolve you of the fact that you don't like white people.

Czar Ivan IV

Czar Ivan IV was ambitious, unpredictable, and cruel. He waged ceaseless and unjust wars against neighboring countries, endorsed the Cossack conquest of Serbia, executed the wives and children of his opponents, and confiscated lands, forcing families into exile. When he heard that a document had been discovered in Novgorod pledging the city's co-operation with Poland in overthrowing him, he pounced (without waiting to determine if the document was genuine): Shops were burned, merchants' homes destroyed, farmhouses torn down, monasteries sacked, and thousands massacred.

No one dared to oppose Ivan the Terrible.

Except maybe a fool.

And a fool did. Whereas most of Russia quaked in fear before Ivan, Nicholas of Pskov walked up and rebuked him by slapping a piece of raw and bloody meat into Ivan's hands, vividly symbolizing Ivan's sinful butcheries.

Nicholas of Pskov was one of those men known by the Russians as the yourodivyje, the fools in Christ (the word is derived from the word yourod, meaning "something strange"). Fools in Christ were fairly frequent in the 16th-century Russia of Ivan the Terrible. But the phenomenon is well-known throughout the wider Greek Orthodox Church, which venerates six saints as fools in Christ going back at least to St. Simeon of Ernesa. (The West, too, has had fools in Christ, such as St. Benedict Joseph Labre in the 18th century.)

The fool in Christ was a person who carried the ideal of self-stripping and humiliation to the limit. He practiced absolute poverty. He had no possessions whatever, wearing rags even in the savage Russian winters, sleeping outdoors in sheds and church porches. Detached and self-forgetting, he expected and anticipated nothing for himself. Most significantly, he renounced possession even of his intellectual gifts, content to be thought deranged by normal society, voluntarily taking up even what has been called "the Cross of madness."

What about you? Are you willing to go to the point of being considered "mad?"

There are so many people today, good meaning people, who take advantage of a new paradigm in todays society. That paradigm is shown by the Obama administration.

These guys take a new initiative such as health care, then create a base idea that is well to the left of Marxism and roll it out. This in turn generates outrage from the middle and right. Now the administration will respond with "giveaways" to the right that are platitudinous and worthless but give the impression that the administration is responding to the desires of the right. But the core idea that was introduced is still so far to the left that everyone is upset. Now the administration can claim that they are "bipartisian" and the right is simply "partisian."

People do this also. They start with a sweeping statement....

"There is a group of people that are 'evil.' " Now I know that you belong to that group but I did not call YOU evil. I called the GROUP evil. "Why are you so angry? And if you are angry why can't you tell me in private?"

Question...are you willing to stand up for what you deem is important? Even if you are being told that your outspoken comments are embarassing?

I want an answer to this question..."When did the vocal bomb throwers get the free pass to state what they want without response?"

I have seen people burn to death because of their politics, religion. I have seen people stoned because they spoke out against those in power. But I have been strengthened by the ones who took their place. Will you step up?

If you want to say something offensive, that is your God given right. But do not expect the world to respect your ideas. I and many others will slap bloody meat in your hands.

Recent events in my life and in the lives of countless others has roused a sleeping giant. People are being shamed into staying silent. Shouts of "Racist" and "Tea Bagger" are now the norm all in an attempt to keep the lid on the arguement. And Christians are falling for it.

A general was fired for the comment,"I knew that my God was bigger than his," the general said of the Somali warlord, a hijacker of the Islamic faith who had boasted that he could not be defeated by American soldiers. "I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol." The writer goes on to say "
The message here is plain enough: The enlightened elites must stamp out the Christian faith, lest it anger the hijackers of Islam."

We are told by the loud voices "Stay silent." Worship God and ignore wordly lies."

Ask yourself...does your silence help or dismay God?

Authors edit...It just occured to me what this new paradigm is called. It is actually a very old idea...Gnosticism. Gnostics believe that they have secret knowledge about God, humanity and the rest of the universe of which the general population was unaware.

Don't fall victime to the idea that your belief is "wrong" because they self imposed leaders tell you you are unaware of the information they have.

They do not know the bible better then you. They do not have the yard stick of "Who is going to heaven." They are not better people, more tolerant then you. They are people who are simply gnostics.

Decision Time

Never thought this would happen...never thought I would need to walk away. But I do.

There comes a time when a person needs to look at what they are doing or where they are going. And the question needs asked, "Why are still doing this?"

Ever had that happen? Have you ever thought to yourself that "I really want this but the anger/frustration/dissappointment is not worth it?" It could be a job, wife, husband, or church. Does not matter. There are only three things that you need to fight for with your life, God, family and country. At least in my opinion.

I am walking away from a group of people that are doing more harm to me then good. This decision is not easy. I have known these folks for quite a while. But I was told some things that make the decision earlier then I thought it would be.

Are you willing to walk away from a bad situation? I sure hope so. You need to take care of yourself also. Nowhere in the bible does it state "Thou shalt stay with people who do not believe in or respect you."

This may sound like "sour apples." Hell it may be. But I don't think so. I think this is part of my growth to a better Christian, Dad and friend.

I had a serious job offer finally (Yea, me!) But I rejected it. Why? I was thinking of my family. It was not good for them. That is the only thing I am concerned about now. And now that I have walked away from these people, my family will be better also.

In defense of NEW SONG CHURCH

Dear God,

I suffered today. Not physically. Not mentally. Spiritually.

You see God (Of course you do, your God. But allow me to continue) I spent the day in a heated discussion with one of the finest men I have ever met. His name is George. He is short. He is uber lib and he is self righteous. He is also the best representation of NEW SONG CHURCH could could know.

George made a harmless comment about Mel Gibson (You know Mel. You are building the express elevator to Hell for him as we speak) being a great example of God working through you even when you don't represent what God is. And truthfully, George is dead on right.

God...I was shameless in my indignation about how we can't judge others. Really shameless. Like Madonna shameless...

Man...it is amazing how when the tempers cool and the situation turns to normal life you realize how Lucky you are to belong to a group such as those at NEW SONG CHURCH.

You see God, I like to see myself as a good Christian. But these people don't just see it. They live it. I just testy when it's above 75. We have men going to the freakin Amazon. You know the Amazon. Hot, sweaty, bug filled. Kind of like Michael Moores underwear.

We have a Pastor who works 24-7 as a nurse, a spiritual leader, a speaker, a friend.

We have a man named Jeff who is the face of the church and the face of God to the most impressionable group in church...our kids.

We have Matt and Paul, the Michael and Gabriel of the church. They are strong men, good to their families and their friends.

But most importantly we have a doctrine. That doctrine is very simple, SOLA SCRIPTURA. The bible is all you need. It is the unquestioned word of God and when you have Jesus you have salvation. It ain't rocket science, but it is the key to life everlasting. And we need to share that word to all 4 corners of the Earth.

These people are carpenters, lawyers, salesmen, fishermen. Hmmm...sounds like people that surrounded Jesus. Maybe that is why I call NEW SONG CHURCH my home.

Think I'll stay around awhile.

Serious Discussion

I had an amazing ride to church on Saturday. Nope...I ain't Jewish. We had a wonderful meeting of men about quite simply...how to keep it in your pants.

See, as a Christian we are more in danger of the loss of our internal soul then any pagan, Jew, Muslim or atheist. Why? you ask?

Because of a very facsinating idea that by choosing to wrap the mantle of Gods grace around our shoulders we have placed one of the greatest weights around our neck that a man can place on himself.

Christians have chosen to live under/by/next to/with and forever for God. We told God "Sign us up." We went to the recruiting office, took the physical and put up our right hand while saying "I swear to protect and defend God and our family and our fellow humans as a knight at Gods Round table." And guess what, try getting out of the Marines by saying "Nah...I don't want to follow your rules anymore." Say that to God and he will NOT throw you in jail. Your punishment is eternal and VERY warm with some pitchforks throw in for good measure.

So we met. And by the way...Don't ride your bike 6 miles to stay in shape and then eat 3 doughnuts. I felt like I ate a tire.

Christians are a different group. We ask people to live a holy/righteous life and forget that we are human and sin like nobodies business. Christians masterbate, covet wives, hook up in park restrooms, lie, cheat and steal like EVERYONE else. But...since we ask others to not sin, we are (according to popular culture) not allowed to be sinful. We are called hypocrites and ridiculed on TV because of putz's like Jimmy Swaggart. Tough life to choose to live.

But these guys got together and asked "How can we deal with this and even more, prevent our sons from following in our footsteps." Nice. I am proud to belong to this church.

I disagreed with things said but that was not the point of this post. This is about us as humans. Are you examining your life to see what needs fixed? Yes you have things that need fixed so wake up. By not acknowledging your "sins" and working to stop them you are keeping yourself from reaching your full potential.

The guys in this group wanted help and wanted to help others. Do you have someone to reach out to? A pastor, family member, friend? Hell...call me.

Whatever you want...a job, a wife, a chance to feel grace, a saved marriage. It is there for you. Get past your "sins" and get help.

Hail Mary, Bring young Lady today, bless you

Since the tempurature is supposed to hit 1 million degrees today, I decided to ride to the early morning service.

Sometimes you just need Communion, the Eucharist, so bad that you are willing to do anything. And that desire lead to to a life changing event.

I am hot and sweaty as I sit down in the pew but the air conditioning and quiet are a welcome repose. I notice the Father is kneeling in prayer and I smile; I can't remember the last time I saw a Father in prayer before a service. I love this guy. He is warm and funny and snarky.

But my good feelings are destroyed by a women I call the "Babushka Lady." She is dressed in a babushka, has a winter coat on in 100 degree days and has a basket of prayer books and sits DIRECTLY in front of me in an empty church. "Man...are you kidding me? She sits HERE?"

Babushka lady has officially harshed my mellow and am am fuming in this beautiful church.

But as ususal the Sermon speaks directly to me.

LUKE 6:37

MARK 11:25

And I am back in my happy place. How does God do it? How does he know what I need to hear every day?

On the way out I go to join the prayer group saying the Rosary. It is the usual group of ancients. We have the loud old man who for some reason needs to speak louder then any one else. We have the shy woman who wants to be involved but won't take her turn saying the decades and we have the Polish immigrant who doesn't speak English but...oh.well.

But today we have a new participant. She looks to be about 60 with a shaved head and a massive scar in her scalp. She is loudly and proudly speaking the Rosary in a completely incoherent manner but no one corrects her. No one even looks uncomfortable. What we have here is love.

This group of seniors have shown me why I am a Christian, why I am Catholic. Theses people are here every day to love God and be loved by God. They also showed me that my petty little struggles of a job search and self pity are not important in here. In here, there is only love.

Have you been to church lately?
